This web site offers a large collection of great works of literature by authors such as Dickens, Austen, Shakespeare and many others. You can read, search and even add your own annotations to any of the literary works. A selection of author biographies and portraits are also made available. The site is especially valuable for those who cannot afford or do not have access to physical copies of a literary work presented on the site.

Production of this web site began in March 2000 with 30 works in the collection and now boasts almost 2900 as of March 2005. All of the literary works are housed in a database containing over 2 million records. This database is queried by custom back-end software to assemble and serve the pages on-the-fly to visitors. Of over 40,000 pages, only 22 are actually static files, the rest being automagically generated for each visitor.

For those wanting convenient, off-line, access to the literary collection, a CD-ROM containing all the works is offered for sale at a reasonable price.
