"Meghan's Pita Animals"

This composition, with the colour orange as the dominant theme, is of a collection of art pieces created by Meghan McCullough while working at the Haggis Farm Bakery on Saturna. She created them using the same process used in making pita bread, using animal shapes of course, and baking for an extended period.

She came up with the idea when she forgot to set a timer after placing pita bread in the oven. They ended up baking for about 45 minutes (they only take 10 min. to bake) and came out quite hard with a greyish, rough texture akin to animal hide. It was this texture that gave her the inspiration to create these unique works.

I framed a print of this piece and sent it to Meghan and Rob in Halifax as a simple gift.
